„From Monday 3 to Sunday 9 June 2024, we will celebrate the sixth International Archives Week (#IAW2024). This year’s theme is #CyberArchives.

Selected by over 400 ICA members and professionals from the sector at the end of 2023, this theme invites archival and records management professionals, organizations, and connected sectors to join us in a virtual conversation about how technological advances are impacting our field. By harnessing the power of data and embracing emerging technologies, archives empower societies to make informed decisions, foster transparency, and preserve cultural heritage.

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, archives play a multifaceted role in securing a future that promotes democracy, protects citizens’ rights, and enhances the quality of life. The archival sector is not only adapting to digitization but also addressing the challenges and opportunities brought about by AI, machine learning, blockchain, and other advanced technologies. This topic requires an interdisciplinary approach, and we hope that professionals and organizations from various fields will join this virtual conversation.

During #IAW2024, this virtual conversation will be complemented by a full program of webinars and a global agenda showcasing how we celebrate this week and the activities we offer to our communities to highlight the importance of archives.
